Hurricane Fiona has caused widespread destruction and catastrophic flooding in the Dominican Republic. The first major hurricane in the Atlantic this season, Fiona felled electricity poles, trees and left houses under water with numerous families displaced.
Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader declared a state of emergency in 8 provinces of the country. These populations are at significant risk for infections and outbreaks of leptospirosis, gastric and respiratory illnesses, as well as a jump in cases of dengue fever and malaria.
You can help life-saving relief efforts by making a donation to CitiHope’s Hurricane Fiona Relief Fund. Your secure donation will help survivors by providing emergency supplies like food, water, and medicine.
All donations to this fund will support relief and recovery efforts in Dominican Republic. CitiHope’s team on the ground is already providing fortified food and medicines, and we are organizing two 40’ containers of medicines and supplies. Initially, the fund will help ship the two sea containers filled with essential relief items. Then, it will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts led by our ‘boots on the ground’, CitiHope Dominicana.
Thank you for your compassion and support, Paul Moore II and the CitiHope team
